Jim Stott
Jim has had a passion for wood from an early age,he was 15 when he built his first sailing boat. Jim's functional and eyecatching occasional furniture made from the ubiquitous Silver Birch and Sycamore and lifted by inlays of yew and inserts of hand-blown stained glass in rich colours. Dave McKeen
The yew lives for at least 1000 years and it is thought that
many living yews pre-date Christ by many thousands of years. The Fortingall yew in
Perthshire is claimed to be up to 5000 years old. Iona, the sacred Isle off the
western coast of Scotland,is thought to have originally been called "Ioha",
the Irish/Gaelic name for yew.Throughout Europe the yew was revered as a sacred tree.
In celtic mythology, the yew symbolises resilience, spiritual strenth and eternity of
the soul...Dave McKeen.
