John Johnstone John Johnstone is one of Scotland's leading contemporary artists working in the figurative style. A glance through his work is enough to tell one that John Johnstone is a
unique artist - in the special sense that he has no problem in being original. After receiving a major travelling scholarship and using it to visit a number of European cities, he returned to the same college and taught there for many years. In other words, his career has been that of an art profassional, working within the framework of a Scottlsh art world that has a particularly deep rooted technical tradition, and where artists continue to take a fiece pride in their technical skills.
